“We trying to [stay] strong, but we can’t,” son Michael Robinson told WSB-TV Atlanta at a vigil for his father. “You know, we can’t bring him back, but he in a better place, though.”
Michael, along with Shawty’s family, fellow artists and fans, congregated outside the ORG studio off the Donald Lee Hollowell parkway in Atlanta to mourn Shawty’s death on Sept. 21. In the midst of their mourning, his kids are also remembering what made Shawty the best dad ever.
Shawty’s daughter, Brittney Pippins, 23, revealed what her father told her about achieving her dreams. “He always taught us to never quit on our dreams and to always make sure we go to school, finish high school, go to college, and make sure you focus on anything you want to achieve in life,” she told Fox 5 Atlanta. “I will never forget the look on his face when I graduated from high school, because he never did.”
His daughter, Tyteanna Chandler, 22, also added: “He helped so many people. He loved his kids and really loved his family, loved Bankhead and he loved going home.
Shawty died in the early hours of Sept. 21 after a fiery car crash in Atlanta. His car crashed into a guardrail, hit several trees and caught fire. Shawty was ejected and pronounced at the scene. He was only 40 years old. Upon hearing the tragic news, fans and artists like 50 Cent, 41, and Gucci Mane, 36, mourned his death on Twitter. Shawty may be gone, but he will never be forgotten.
