News of Anthony and Ottavia‘s split first broke when a source revealed to PageSix that the 60-year-old chef and his wife have been “separated for a while.” Ottavia quickly confirmed the divorce to the outlet, citing her and Anthony’s “unconventional relationship” as the source of their issues.
“Because of professional decisions we both have made, my husband and I have been for years in an unconventional relationship,” she said via email. “Nothing has changed. We love each other. We respect the decisions the other has made. And we’ll always consider ourselves a family.”
As indicated by Ottavia’s kindly worded statement about the divorce, their split is not a messy one. The couple has a 9-year-old daughter, Ariane, so Anthony and Ottavia will seemingly maintain a good relationship for her sake. In fact, the family recently took part in a Nerf gun battle despite Ottavia and Anthony’s pending split.
While Anthony has yet to comment on his divorce, the famous chef has called his family “dysfunctional,” as his job as host of CNN’s Parts Unknown has created an interesting schedule for him and his family. He travels 250 days out of the year for his career, and when he’s home he claims he holds a schedule revolving around Ariane rather than Ottavia. Regardless, Ottavia doesn’t seem to be bitter about the breakup — she even just congratulated Anthony on his Creative Arts Emmy win on social media!
This is the second marriage to end for Anthony, as he was married to his high school sweetheart Nancy Putkoski from 1985 to 2005. Anthony’s sporadic schedule seemingly caused his first divorce, too. Sounds like he may need to just focus on his career after this second split, huh?
