Gretchen is charging Roger Ailes with sexual harassment, claiming she was fired for refusing to engage in a sexual relationship with him, despite her 11 years of dedication to the network. In a shocking eight-page lawsuit, Carlson alleges that Roger Ailes said to her in Sept. 2015, “I think you and I should have had a sexual relationship a long time ago and then you’d be good and better and I’d be good and better.” She also claims that he “injected sexual and/or sexist comments” into conversations and made “sexual advances by various means”. The suit maintains that Ailes told Carlson she was “sexy”, but “too much hard work”.

Gretchen wrote an in-depth piece for Huffington Post about sexual harassment last year, declaring that “we have to stop thinking of sexual harassment as only a women’s issue”, and that “part of putting an end to harassment involves educating boys to be completely accepting of women, both at home and at work, so that harassment becomes a relic of the past”. She also released a memoir in 2015 called Getting Real. In the book, she shares her success story, and also writes about multiple instances of sexual assault in the novel — though she doesn’t name Ailes.
