Ciara lost a bridesmaid at the very last minute, but that bridesmaid, Serena Williams, had a pretty great excuse: Wimbledon! Thankfully, even the loss of Serena as a bridesmaid could not ruin Ciara’s perfect wedding day in Liverpool, England.
“Serena really wanted to be part of Ciara’s bridal party when she asked her a while back, but she knew work may conflict,” a source told E! News. “Ciara was understanding and knows Serena would be there if she could. They have spoken today and have FaceTimed each other, so it’s like Serena is in the room with all the girls.”

To be fair, Ciara had to know that asking one of — if not THE — best tennis player in the world to be in a wedding the same weekend as the Wimbledon semi-finals might not have worked out so well. That’s why it’s great that she had Kelly Rowland and LaLa Anthony by her side, as the report claims they helped her get ready for the rehearsal dinner the night before, July 5.
