Katie and Jamie’s secret may be out, but they may not be safe just yet. “It is not all rosy,” a source told HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY. “They have very real fears of Katie’s ex, Tom, and his reaction.”
Until recently, their relationship was only speculation, which gave them the secrecy they needed away from the media and Tom. But now that it’s out, they don’t how the situation will go. “That’s a part of the many reasons they prefer to keep their relationship private,” the insider continued. “In Mar. 2015, photos surfaced of Jamie and Katie holding hands and it kind of freaked them both out. Since then, they have worked extra hard to keep their love out of the public eye.”

While Tom hasn’t publicly acknowledged his ex-wife’s new relationship, it’s hard to think that he won’t have at least one thing to say about it. Tom and the Dawson’s Creek actress have a daughter together, and has already allegedly demanded custody because of her relationship. And although Jamie has children of his own and definitely has a way with the younger crowd, this could be a potential problem.
But in addition to Tom’s feelings, the two just don’t want the new publicity to interfere with their work or personal lives. “Jamie and Katie respect each other’s careers and don’t want any extra attention to adversely effect their work,” our source added. But judging by their affectionate dates out, we think they’ll be more of a great support system rather than a distraction. Let’s just hope Tom sees it that way!
