“Stop Desire” is a bona fide earworm. It goes down easy, as do the other pop singles that the duo has released so far — don’t miss “Boyfriend” and “U-Turn” — but the lyrics denote the usual smarts and sharpness of a classic Tegan and Sara product. I had the pleasure of hearing T & S perform it live for the fourth time ever at their NYC show on May 9, and it brought the house down. After you take a listen, you’ll definitely look forward to their new album, out June 3!
“‘Stop Desire’ is all about hooking up. It’s not unrequited [love],” Tegan told Noisey. As she sings in the chorus: “In a minute, I’ll be hoping that you’re outside/Another second, you’ll be walking on my wild side/You know I’m ready for anything to happen/Take this passion, turn it into action.” Color me obsessed with this danceable track!
