Chumlee had been charged with 19 charges of drug possession and each charge could have earned him 1-4 years if served consecutively. Now he’s set to plead guilty to one count each of felony possession of a firearm and felony possession of a controlled substance, but the kicker is he’s only going to get probation and serve no jail time thanks to the amazing deal that his lawyers cut, according to TMZ.
While pleading guilty to any felony is still a very serious matter, his two counts will be kicked down to misdemeanors after he successfully completes his probation. That’s super good news for Chumlee as his job at the World Famous Gold and Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas could have been in jeopardy since most felons are prohibited by law from working in such shops.
He got even more good news in that the initial sexual assault case – the one that caused the raid of his home back in March that turned up the drugs and guns – has apparently gone nowhere as there wasn’t enough evidence to charge him with any crime. While a judge still needs to sign off on the deal, things turned out pretty sweet for Chumlee!
The reality star had been a person of interest in an ongoing sexual assault investigation, which resulted in a team of officers raiding Chumlee’s Las Vegas home and doing a massive search of the place on Mar. 9. They found several guns, methamphetamine and marijuana and he ended up spending a night in jail as a result. Fortunately for him, his plea deal means he won’t be seeing the inside of a cell again!
HollywoodLifers, are you glad that Chumlee’s avoiding jail time? Do you hope he’ll return to Pawn Stars?
