“Alongside becoming a co-anchor, Michael has basically been promised the 8am hour,” a source told DailyMail. “Yet this was Lara’s hour where she could do the softer celebrity segment. These will now go to Michael. We’re all asking, what’s left for Lara – baking and yard sale reporting – puh-lease, as if she wants that?”
Lara has been faithfully working on Good Morning America since 1999, and after 17 years with the show, she was promised that it was her time to shine. “When she signed her last contract, she was promised that she would one day be the main anchor. Michael’s promotion effectively throws this out the window and she is beyond furious.” We don’t blame her!
Lara is clearly standing by the show, but this could seriously affect her work. “What is most concerning is what this means for Lara,” the source continued. “She is a team player here at GMA, she always brings her A-Game every day and she genuinely enjoys working on the show.”
However, now, she’s wearing her emotions on her sleeve. While other co-anchors have taken to social media to congratulate and welcome Michael, she clearly doesn’t feel the same. “Lara is furious and the fact that she hasn’t congratulated Michael publicly says it all. On this morning’s show she just clapped and smiled when Robin and George discussed the news and she hasn’t even mentioned it on her social media accounts unlike her other colleagues.”
However, DM has other sources saying she’s not upset, and feels exactly the opposite. “She, just like the rest of the Good Morning America team, is thrilled to have Michael joining the show,” the source said.
