That’s an understatement! The audience went wild over her shocking joke, and so did Nick, who was practically doubled over laughing! He wasn’t bothered by her “insults” at all. They’ve been friends since they were kids, back in their Disney days. Remember Camp Rock?! Plus, Demi dated Joe Jonas, 26, for quite some time. They’ve got a strong bond.
The rest of Demi’s speech was very serious, and touching. “I just always want people to know, my fans, everything, you should always love yourself for who you are, the skin that you’re in. Whether you identify with it or tell people — just go for it! You can do it! Have no fear! You can do it!”
How beautiful is that? She also emotionally thanked her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, who couldn’t be there while filming his new TV show, Four Stars. The Vanguard award is given to”media professionals who have made a significant difference in promoting equality and acceptance,” and Demi embodies that. Demi said in her speech that she “wants to be a voice to my generation.” The audience roared with screams and applause as a man yelled back “you are!”
