Don’t think Kira (Arden Cho) had it easy while she was away — the girl had some pretty serious things to do. That included going to battle with skinwalkers. She started taking them down one-by-one until she got speared. Seriously, ouch. It wasn’t a fight she could lose either. If Kira didn’t pass the skinwalkers’ test, she would become a skinwalker forever.
In very important news, Stiles (Dylan O’Brien) wasn’t giving up on Roscoe. He was fixing it up (again) for a trip to New Mexico with Scott to find Kira. It was time to bring her back home. Liam showed up to Scott’s house. It was their first face-to-face meeting their big fight. Liam wanted to let him know about what was going on with Theo, but Scott already knew most of it.
Liam desperately wanted to go along with Stiles and Scott, but his alpha told him to stay behind. There was clearly some unresolved tension between them. But Liam took the first step. After giving Liam the cold shoulder, Stiles told Scott he needed to take it easy on Liam. After all, he was Scott’s only beta. Scott managed to get Roscoe running, and they hit the road!
The Beast = Not What You Think
Theo and Tracy (Kelsey Chow) went looking for The Beast, and we learned some pretty crucial information. The Beast turned back into human form during the day, so the person who is The Beast is someone we probably know. The Dread Doctors showed up and told Theo to beat it.
Theo didn’t want their deal to be over because he wasn’t an alpha yet. The Beast soon made his/her entrance, and Theo backed away really quickly. That was a battle he knew he could not win — for now. So Theo spent his time taunting Liam by talking to Hayden (Victoria Moroles) and eye-flirting with Malia. Casual stuff.
Back to Kira, she was about to be tested. Her mother revealed it could take years for her to be “fixed.” That wasn’t exactly the timeline Kira had in mind. But if she didn’t get help, the kitsune could consume her. On their way to Kira, Scott quizzed Stiles about Malia. He hadn’t talked to her since their breakup. Scott believed Malia had found her mother — the Desert Wolf — and was working with Braeden. Scott sensed agression on Malia and thought she was out to kill her mother.
Meanwhile, Lydia (Holland Roden) was still hallucinating in Eichen House. Meredith (Maya Eshet) urged her that she had to learn to use her voice as a weapon. When Lydia traveled to the high school library, she noticed all of the initials she and her friends carved onto the shelves were gone. If Lydia didn’t come back, her friends would all die. During this hallucination, Lydia also witnessed Theo ripping out Meredith’s throat. Say what?
Bow Chicka Wow Wow
Liam was 50 shades of pissed with Theo and Hayden’s relationship, regardless of whether they were just friends or not. Theo had saved her life, and Hayden didn’t want Liam to forget that. She also didn’t want to die again and sticking by Theo was her best chance at staying alive.
Corey (Michael Johnston) and Mason (Khylin Rhambo) proved they’re super adorable. Corey wanted to take Mason out again, but Mason didn’t want to go out with one of the bad guys. Well, he certainly liked one. Corey and Mason had one HOT makeout session in the locker room. Bow chicka wow wow.
Stiles and Scott finally talked about what happened with Donovan. Scott didn’t understand why Stiles thought he couldn’t tell him about it. Stiles ultimately didn’t want to disappoint Scott. So much had happened with the pack over the last few months, everyone was no longer who they once were. Scott never thought Malia would be the one who would likely have the most blood on her hands. Scott felt guilty about that. Everyone was putting their life in danger for him. That’s when he spotted Kira in the distance.
Don’t Mess With Malia
Before we get to the rest of that, let’s talk about Theo and Malia. Theo found Malia searching for clues on Deaton at the clinic. She was not messing around, though. She punched Theo and said she should kill him. Theo knew she wouldn’t. “You like me too much,” Theo said. Malia, who knew this was totally true, went after Theo. She straddled him and punched the daylights out of him. It was crazy and totally hot. I can’t wait for their makeout scenes.
Hayden and Liam finally had a heart-to-heart about everything. Hayden believed that Theo could protect her the way Scott couldn’t. Hayden didn’t want to stay alive just for herself, but for her sister. When Liam admitted that it would “ruin” him if she died again, they kissed.
It was Kira’s ultimate test, and she fought an oni! Talk about season 3 vibes. Every time Kira would take a good shot, she was injured. She finally obliterated the oni with her fox spirit. She thought she had passed, but she didn’t. It was the fox not her, the skinwalkers said. They told Kira she had to stay!
Kira’s mom told her to run to the car, but a skinwalker put a spear through a tire. Kira and her mom were ready to fight the skinwalkers, but Scott rolled up and went all wolf on the skinwalkers. Everyone ran to the car and Stiles slammed on the gas. When Stiles got a chance to breathe, he found Scott and Kira kissing in the backseat. Reunited and it feels so good!
But there was still trouble for them to handle. Mason and Liam showed up to Scott’s and revealed Theo was looking for a blind alpha — DEUCALION!
