Bill’s mugshot was released by the Montgomery County police department on Dec 30, just after he booked as an inmate at the Cheltenham Township Police Department for “aggravated indecent assault,” stemming from a 2004 encounter with then-Temple University employee, Andrea Constand. He paid 10 percent of his $1 million bail, and was forced to hand over his passport, before being released.
Bill reportedly took Andrea to his Elkins Park, Pennsylvania mansion where he allegedly drugged her before sexually assaulting her. Andrea tried to get Bill charged in 2005, but then-District Attorney Bruce Castor declined to charge him. However, court docs stemming from a 2005 civil suit involving Bill were released in July 2015. In them, Bill admitted he bought drugs for the sole purpose of using them on women he wanted to have sex with.
District Attorney-Elect Kevin Steele announced during a press conference on the morning of Dec. 30 that his office was bringing criminal charges against Bill. “A prosecutor’s job is to follow the evidence wherever it leads and whenever it comes to light,” said Kevin. “Upon examination of all the evidence, today we are able to seek justice on behalf of the victim.”
More than 50 women have accused Bill of rape, sexual assault or sexual battery. 35 of his accusers bravely stepped into the spotlight by appearing on the cover of New York Magazine, before discussing the alleged sexual assault they reportedly suffered from Bill.
Bill was once a beloved comedy legend but he has been slammed and trashed by everyone ranging from President Barack Obama to his former Cosby Show co-star, Joseph C. Phillips. Judd Apatow tore into Bill during a rant on The Tonight Show, while Amy Schumer dragged him through the mud during a ruthless sketch on Insider Amy Schumer.
Are you glad that Bill was charged, HollywoodLifers? Do you think he’s innocent or guilty?
