Bobbi Kristina’s Sweet 16-themed funeral was held on Aug. 1 at St. James United Methodist Church in Alpharetta, Georgia. Bobby Brown, 46, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, 46, and celebrities like Tyler Perry, 45, and Michael Jai White, 47, attended the service. Bobbi Kristina’s boyfriend, Nick Gordon, 25, did not attend. Unfortunately, drama unfolded during the ceremony. Bobby’s sister and Bobbi Kristina’s aunt, Leolah Brown, was kicked out of the service after she started screaming at Pat, who was preparing to speak.
The final song played at the funeral was reportedly Whitney’s “Jesus Loves Me.” Bobby also reportedly wrote this sweet message to his daughter in the funeral program: “I also will always love you.” The message is a reference to Whitney’s classic song “I Will Always Love You.” After a post-funeral gathering at St. Marlo Country Club, Bobby appeared distraught and broke down in tears in his car, according to photos.
Bobbi Kristina died on July 26 after spending several months in a coma. She was found facedown and unresponsive in her Georgia home on Jan. 31. She remained on life support for months. When doctors realized she would never recover, Bobbi Kristina was moved to hospice care. Her family remained by her side throughout her 7-month fight for her life.
