If there’s one thing we can say about Kanye West’s 2015 Glastonbury Music Festival performance — it got people talking! Kanye, 38, left his humility back in the US, as he named himself the “greatest living rock star” while he was on stage! This upset Corey Taylor, 42, the lead singer of Slipknot, and he had had words for Yeezy about his bold claim to the throne.
Music Choice shared Corey’s message to Yeezy on July 7. The “Wait and Bleed,” “Left Behind” and “My Plague” singer appeared without his trademark mask, sitting comfortably in a chair while he addressed Kanye directly.
“Kanye. You are not –” said Corey, pausing to repeating himself for emphasis, “– NOT the greatest living rock star of all time. The fact that you had to tell people that, kinda says it all.”
Corey clearly didn’t appreciate Kanye’s comments during his June 28 set at the Glastonbury event. While on the mic, Yeezy said, “I’m going to say this tonight because 20 years from now, 30 years from now, 40 years from now, I might not be able to say it, but I can say it tonight: You are now watching the greatest living rock star on the planet.”
Seems Corey politely disagrees with Kanye’s opinion of himself. Slipknot, a heavy metal band known for its nine members performing in frightening masks, formed in 1995 and have been making fans band their heads for the last twenty years. If anyone could be an expert on rock stars, it would be Corey.
“You remind me of the guy who brags about p***y,” Corey added. “They never get as much as they brag about.” He concluded his message by slapping his wrist, clearly scolding Kanye for saying what he did. “Stop it!” Corey said, before pointing at the camera, much like a disapproving father. “Stop it!”
Corey’s not the only one who slammed Kanye over his comments. Rock and roll legend, Pete Townshend, along with his band, The Who, headlined Glastonbury. After hearing Kanye’s claims, Pete mocked Yeezy, telling the audience on hand that he and the band were “going to send you home now with a rebellious, ‘Oh yeah, who’s the biggest rock and roll star in the world?'”
Do you agree with Corey’s message, HollywoodLifers? Or do you think that Kanye IS the greatest living rock star?
