‘The Fosters’ Recasting Jesus After Jake T. Austin’s Departure

Wait, what?! How can Jesus live on without Jake T. Austin? Well, it’s simple — he will be recast, HollywoodLife.com can confirm.

In the season two finale of The Fosters, we saw a major car crash with one fatality — and we had our theories about who it was. Now that we’ve see it, we need more answers: and luckily, HollywoodLife.com spoke with the cast at ATX Festival this weekend to get them. Warning: Major spoilers from the season three premiere of The Fosters ahead.

“We’re recasting Jesus,” Sherri Saum told us during an interview at the TV festival in Austin, Texas this weekend. She couldn’t say much — and neither could her co-star, Teri Polo, who sat next to her tight lipped.

Of course, on the season three premiere on June 8, we saw that Jesus is indeed alive — there was no fatality at all as that part appeared to be a dream Stef was having. Instead, Jesus will be away and will appear throughout the season via phone calls, Skype, etc.

ABC Family had hopes to have an actor officially cast by the premiere, but due to busy schedules, that did not happen and they are still searching. Jake announced that his time as Jesus had come to an end back in March.

“I’m honored to have been a part of such a groundbreaking series, but I personally want to let you know that my time on the show….” Jake tweeted at the time. “Has come to an end. Thank you for letting me be a part of your family, it’s been a pleasure. -JTA.”

Of course, we are sad that Jake is gone but we’re so relieved that Jesus lives on! Now we just have to wait for a new hottie to join for the role!
