Zayn Malik, 22, left One Direction in March in hopes of leading a ‘normal’ life — and now, Directioners may be giving him his wish. Following Zayn’s Twitter feud with Louis Tomlinson, 23, on May 6, fans have gotten a message trending on Twitter that asks any 1D supporters to focus their attention solely on the band’s remaining four members…and NOT Zayn!
The fans have spoken! Directioners have gotten the hashtag #IstighfarZayn trending on Twitter, starting a movement to get any 1D supporters to stop giving Zayn any attention after his Twitter war with Louis. (In case you didn’t know, Istighfar means asking Allah for forgiveness in the Islamic religion).
In a message gone viral, a One Direction fan points out that Zayn asked to live a “normal” life when he decided to leave the band earlier this year, and suggested that the fandom allow him to do that.
“Can we just stop retweeting, quoting or favoriting zayn’s tweet? Stop commenting or mentioning him. Let’s give him his life, what he wanted it to be. A life without us. Let’s unfollow him, let’s focus on the four other boys,” the message reads.

The note continues by reminding fans how great the four remaining band members, Louis, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne, are, and urges Directioners to pour all their support into those guys instead.
Okay, let’s recap how this whole thing went down. It all started when Liam joked on Instagram that he’d found a “new fifth member” for 1D, and Zayn’s pal, Naughty Boy, uploaded a photo of himself and the 22-year-old to Twitter with the caption, “Replace this.” Ouch.
Taking note of the filtered photo, Louis took to his own Twitter to bash the producer, who he’s feuded with before, and wrote, “Remember when you were 12 and you used to think those Mac filters for your pictures were cool haha ! Some people still do HA!”
While Zayn has stayed out of Louis and Naughty Boy’s bouts before, he wasn’t going to let this one go. Tweeting directly at his former friend, he commented, “remember when you had a life and stopped making bitchy comments about mine?”
OMG! Really, we still can’t believe it got so far that these two started going at each other! The back-and-forth didn’t end there, though, with Naughty Boy blasting Louis by claiming he “can’t even sing,” and the newly-single 23-year-old retorting that the producer has had to ride Zayn’s career in order to become relevant.
After keeping quiet for almost 24 hours, both Zayn and Louis returned to social media to make new statements about the situation, thanking their fans in the process.
“Don’t know why I’m being attacked for defending my self, people got it twisted! I love my fans ?! Every single one of you x,” Zayn wrote.
Unlike his old band mate, Louis didn’t direct the situation directly, but did gush over the support he and 1D has received. “Our fans support really has been a different class ! Huge love to you guys !!,” he tweeted.
Well, we’ll be sitting here just hoping these two can figure out a way to work things out — there’s no need for this!
Tell us, HollywoodLifers — do you think fans should be cutting Zayn off?
