‘Pretty Little Liars’ Recap: Taking A Stand
It’s always a good day when you see Perd Hapley (Jay Jackson) reporting the news, and he must have taken a new gig in Rosewood to anchor Alison’s trial. It’s Parks & Recreation meets Pretty Little Liars.
Mona’s BFF Lesli took the stand at Alison’s trial and gave Spencer, Aria (Lucy Hale) and Emily (Shay Mitchell) the stank eye before doing so. She completely bashed Alison on the stand and cried like a baby to milk it even more. But Alison wasn’t the only person she threw under the bus. She said Mike (Cody Christian) practically “attacked” her for trying to borrow a book and Hanna (Ashley Benson) “stalked” her.
Lesli, you need to watch your back. Don’t be throwing around such lies.
Spencer called Caleb to tell him that everything had hit the fan at the trial. Toby showed up and tried to explain why he was being so distant. It was a terribly awkward moment, especially when Spencer mentioned Colin.
The Liars on the outside made a dual call to Hanna and Alison in jail to let them know about Lesli. Alison had no idea who she was. Lesli clearly knew something. Alison mentioned that she might not have been alone at the playground she was at the day of Mona’s murder. Could Lesli have been there, too?
Aria was more concerned with Mike’s safety than anything at this point. Mike wasn’t worried about Lesli. He was willing to take the stand if he had to. He was done lying. However, a disgusting and huge animal tongue was shipped directly to the Montgomery house. If that didn’t persuade them all to keep their mouth shut, then I didn’t know what would. Aria went straight to Ezra (Ian Harding) for help. She begged him to get Mike out of town. Regardless of what was going on with Andrew, Aria knew she could count on Ezra. Andrew wasn’t thrilled about that. He got super jealous when Aria told him about her plan.

Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) visited Hanna in prison and expressed his frustrations in a big way. He didn’t know how to help her, but he wanted to so terribly. “I love you, Hanna. And I’m not just going to walk away and leave you,” he said. Swoon. Even though Aria thought she was doing the right thing for Mike, Caleb thought it was time Mike put his big boy pants on.
He wasn’t going to take no for an answer either. He met Ezra and Mike at the cabin. However, while Ezra and Caleb were fighting, Mike ran off. That darn Mike! Caleb and Ezra tracked down the car Mike was driving but found no Mike. The car had an arrow stuck in the windshield! They went searching for him in the woods and were attacked by a serious archery expert. Is Katniss on the loose?!
All the Liars were doing everything they could to stop “A.” Emily and Spencer went back to the playground where Alison had been, and someone was clearly living there. They found out who it was and she eventually came around to talk. In order to be able to discuss the next plan of attack, Alison and Hanna had to physically hurt themselves. Geez. They handed over their dissection of that cryptic note found in Mona’s bedroom to Alison’s lawyer.
Despite all the drama, there’s always time for romance in Rosewood. Toby showed up at Spencer’s and put his badge aside. Tanner wanted him to choose between Spencer and his badge. He refused to do that. Spencer was the only thing he cared about in this world, and nothing could change that. This ended in a glorious steamy makeout session.

At this point, Mike, Ezra and Caleb were running for their lives. “A” found Mike and sprayed him with pepper spray and knocked him out. OMG. “A” did a number on my nerves tonight. When Ezra and Caleb finally found Mike, he was tied up with a tether ball string wrapped around his neck!
Before Aria found out about any of this, she called Andrew desperate for help. Earlier, he had stressed he would be there for her 24/7, but he was nowhere to be found when she needed him. Side-eyeing Andrew so much right now. When he finally turned back up, she discovered that he was once an award-winning pathfinding scout. Um, could Big A have been in the woods with Mike, Ezra and Caleb?!
Ezra and Caleb went straight to Tanner after their brush with death, but she proved to be the absolute worst. She discredited everything they said. Can we just get rid of her, please?
Alison finally took the stand at the trial. Her lawyer tried to use an old elbow injury to say that Alison would be incapable of fighting Mona to a brutal, bloody death. Unfortunately, her prosecutor turned the courtroom upside down. Apparently, Alison won an archery award when she was younger, so her injury excuse was invalid. Everyone’s jaws were left on the floor. After that tense moment, Alison revealed to her lawyer in confidence that she didn’t even win the award fairly. She’d rigged the contest with her bunkmate at camp.
Alison’s verdict had arrived by the end of the episode. She was found GUILTY of Mona’s murder. When Alison turned back to Aria, Emily and Spencer with tears in her eyes, I lost it. That poor girl. Aria, Emily and Spencer didn’t have time to feel sorry for Alison long, though. Why? BECAUSE THEY WERE ARRESTED.
Yes, as of right now, Alison, Hanna, Aria, Emily and Spencer are behind bars. “A” is likely partying with her BFF Satan over this. My anxiety level is maximized because I have no idea how these girls are going to get out of this one.
