‘The Duff’: Behind The Scenes

“I’m no wine expert but, pretty sure if you mix red and white you get rosé,” Robbie’s character Wesley says in this clip from The Duff.

If that quote didn’t make it clear, Wesley isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed– and Robbie agrees!

“Wes is not the brightest bulb,” he says in this behind the scenes EXCLUSIVE. “At school he doesn’t really try. He’s got a bunch of friends, he’s popular. It’s kind of like, why put the effort in?”

However, even though Robbie admits that Wesley isn’t necessarily a genius, he doesn’t think he’s a lost cause. “I don’t think he’s dumb, he just lacks the motivation,” Robbie said.

Whatever you say, Robbie!

‘You’re A Jocksist’

“Yes he’s good looking, yes he’s athletic,” said the film’s director Ari Sandel of Robbie’s character. “But even though he projects a lot of confidence, we discover that he has things that he’s not totally confident about.”

That could definitely be true. In fact, in a later scene, Wes expresses some of those insecurities. “You’re racist against jocks,” he says to Mae’s character. “You’re a jocksist.”

Okay, so maybe he could be both a little more confident and a little brighter.
