Josh Murray and Andi Dorfman shocked their fans when they announced they were calling off their engagement, Jan. 8 and we were surprised too! They seemed so in love, constantly posting cute pics on Instagram but HollywoodLife.com has learned that behind-the-scenes their life together was very different. In fact, it was more of a business deal and Josh has his sights set on becoming the next Bachelor!
It turns out Josh never actually wanted to be the winner of The Bachelorette and that he had hoped to be the runner up and be where Chris Soules is now as The Bachelor. Pretty shocking right?!
“During the filming of the show the producers kept telling Josh that if Andi didn’t pick him, he would be the next Bachelor,” our source tells us. “So he has been resentful towards Andi because he knows he could have been in the lime light as the Bachelor, so now [that he’s single] he is going to make a play to try to be the next Bachelor. Even though they are telling their friends [their split] was mutual he ended it.”
Is Andi devastated and crying over the split? Our source says that yes there was love there and an attraction but ultimately they were both more interested in fame.
“They were both in it for the fame and money,” our insider adds. “They have only been staying together to try and be a power couple and make as much money as possible out of endorsement deals.”
They announced their split in a statement Jan. 7:
“After several months of being engaged and working on our relationship, we have decided that it’s best for both of us to go our separate ways,” reads the statement. “We are very sad that it has come to this point, but this is what’s best for both of us individually.”
Their devoted fans were crushed because they had hoped to see them get married in a lavish TV ceremony like Catherine Giudice and Sean Lowe.
Josh popped the question to Andi on the July 28, 2014 finale, and on the outside they seemed incredibly happy. Even as recently as Jan. 5 they attended the premiere of The Bachelor and walked the red carpet arm-in-arm and even showed PDA.
We also spoke to another source close to the couple who also tells us that they got into a big fight in LA after the premiere.
“Andi felt like Josh wasn’t showing her enough attention [at the after party] and things just blew up at the premiere,” a source tells us. “To top it off, Andi was annoyed that Josh was getting so much attention from other girls.”
Do you think they waited to announce their break up until after the premiere because they were contractually obligated to attend? It seems possible!
HollywoodLifers, do you think Josh would be great as the next Bachelor?
