It had to happen eventually. The Vampire Diaries was basically the only CW show in history to not have a kiss in the rain, until the Nov. 13 episode, that is. Damon (Ian Somerhalder) tried to make Elena (Nina Dobrev) remember how in love they were — but it brought up one of their most romantic times ever. Unfortunately, don’t count on seeing that happen again.
During PaleyFest 2014, Nina and Ian were asked about the long-awaited moment, and they were not very positive about it!
“First of all, it’s really cold in Georgia, so I don’t think that’s such a good idea,” Ian said in March. “It was below 30 degrees, and it got so cold the muscles in my jaw froze and I couldn’t speak. I looked like I had Bell’s palsy.” He then told Julie Plec, “You write another rain kiss and I quit!”
Ha! Nina also said that she got sick during it and had icicles in her hair. However, I’m not sure that it’s a bad idea to stay away from the rain kisses. I know, it was an amazing scene — everything a rain kiss scene needs: lust, love and all around emotion.
However, it was so perfect. Why ruin it with repeating it? I have hope that Damon and Elena will have a lot more steamy love scenes to come, and they don’t need the rain to create an epic scene. The sketchy motel scene, the kiss on the front porch (ok, that was Katherine but still), or even the hot sex in front of the fire place — they all were amazing.
So, who needs more rain kisses? Not me. Sure, I wouldn’t mind, but if Ian and Nina don’t want it, let’s just let them makeout without the rain.
Can you go without it, HollywoodLifers?
