Joseph Morgan and Persia White, whom you may recognize as Bonnie’s mother, Abby, on The Vampire Diaries, exchanged vows in front of family and a small group of close friends on July 5, and we’ve got all the details on their romantic Jamaican wedding!
Joseph and Persia, who met on set during the filming of Season 3 of The Vampire Diaries, said their “I dos” in front of 26 people at a private villa located right next to the romantic spot where they got engaged!
“It had a very rustic feel to it,” Persia, 41, tells People magazine. “There was nothing about it that was overwhelming or very huge or fabulous in that way. We tried to keep everything really intimate and beautiful and sort of going along with nature.”
Persia wore a stunning Vera Wang gown that she paired with a traditional, cathedral-length veil, while the stylish groom rocked a white silk tux with black lapels by designer Miguel Wilson. “And then I had a bow tie,” Joseph, 33, says. “In fact, the bow tie was the first bow tie I’ve ever tied myself, so I was quite proud of that.”
The newlyweds seem to have so much in common, and that was definitely represented in their choice of location for their nuptials!
“I think one of the reasons we picked it was because we love the ocean and we both grew up by the sea,” Persia says. “To be by the sea was wonderful. And the people of Jamaica are just wonderful.”
And so were the guests! “It was mostly family, a handful of close friends,” Joseph reveals. “My best man was my best friend of almost 20 years, Matt Ryan. He actually plays John Constantine on the new NBC show Constantine, but we’ve been friends since we were teenagers.”
The couple kicked off an amazing night of song and dance by rocking out to Florence + the Machine‘s “Never Let Me Go” at their reception. They also danced to a fun band of Jamaican drummers.
“We had this great group called the Children of the Drums,” Joseph says. “It was six Jamaican drummers, and they got everybody up on the dance floor. At one point, all of our guests were on the dance floor, which is an achievement, I think.”
After hopping a helicopter to Negril for their honeymoon, the newlyweds kicked things up a notch by going cliff jumping! “That was what was more daunting than anything else,” Persia says. “And we did it together, so we’re pretty proud of that.”
Joseph and Persia already sound eager to begin their next adventure — starting a family of “little cute mini Josephs,” Persia reveals.
We’re so happy for these two! How about you, HollywoodLifers — do YOU think Persia and Joseph make a cute couple? Let us know!
