Nina Dobrev’s New Diss — Did She Call Ian Somerhalder A ‘Fool’?

Judging by Nina Dobrev's social media activity, she is not as happy about Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed's new relationship as they are with each other. Did she call him a 'fool'? Nina Dobrev, 25, and Ian Somerhalder, 35, may have officially broken up over a year ago, but considering the fact that they still have to work together and the fact that they were rumored to have been hooking up again in late 2013, it makes sense that Nina may be a bit hurt by her ex's new relationship with Nikki Reed, 26. On July 21, Nina posted a photo on Instagram that seemed to be taking a shot at Ian, and it looks like she may have done it again!

Nina Dobrev Upset By Ian Somerhalder’s Romance With Nikki Reed?

Nina posted the following quote on Instagram on July 22:

She captioned the photo with a quote from Edward G. Bulwer-Lytton: “A fool flatters himself, a wise man flatters the fool.”

Is Nina referring to Ian?

Nina and Ian kept their three-year relationship under wraps, and now Ian is flaunting his romance with Nikki all over LA.

Meanwhile, sources reported to HollywoodLife.com EXCLUSIVELY that both Ian and Nikki were keeping their ex’s “feelings close as they work on their decisions to start an exclusive relationship together,” but that Nina wasn’t informed directly by either of them of their relationship. It must have come as a huge shock, especially considering all three of them were close friends!

Could Nina be firing back at them, telling them not to flatter themselves and that she doesn’t care about their relationship?

After all, our source further revealed that Nina “reads the gossip like the rest of us so she will know soon enough.” It’s obvious that Nina knows about Nikki and Ian at this point, but maybe she simply doesn’t care and resents Ian and Nikki’s belief that she would care — “pretty words aren’t always true!” Don’t flatter yourself, Ian!

However, if Nina was upset by Ian’s relationship with Nikki, it would totally make sense. Regardless of how long it’s been since you broke up with an ex, a three-year relationship is bound to have an effect on a person, especially when they’re seen with someone new — regardless of the people you’ve also seen in the interim. (Looking at you, Derek Hough.)
