Lamar Shelly and Sherri Shepherd‘s split has turned into an all-out war. On May 2, Lamar filed for legal separation, as he couldn’t file for divorce for three more months until he was a permanent resident of California. On May 12, Sherri beat him to it and officially filed.
The View co-host, 47, cited irreconcilable differences in the New Jersey court documents, according to UPI. However, her paperwork was much different from his — he asked for full custody of their unborn child, a baby boy, that is being carried by a surrogate, and due on July 28.
Sherri’s new paperwork reportedly does not mention their unborn child, but did ask for enforcement on the prenuptial agreement — in his paperwork, he asked that the prenup be declared invalid due to fraud. According to TMZ, if the prenup goes through, Lamar gets $60,000 (if the marriage lasts between two and five years).
Lamar and Sherri met in 2009 after being introduced by Jay Tucke. They tied the knot in August 2011 in Chicago. It was the second marriage for Sherri, who married to Jeff Tarpley in 2002. While they struggled to get pregnant, she did end up having a son, Jeffrey, who is now eight years old. The two split in 2011.
Lamar opened up to People recently and while he kept quiet on the divorce, he did say that her was “happy to be a father,” speaking about his unborn child.
Are you shocked that Sherri now filed? Do you think they’ll work out the terms? Or will it get nasty? Let us know!
