Rachel Faces The Wrath Of Madame Tibideaux
Rachel finally got a night off from Funny Girl for NYADA’s “Midwinter Critique” — a performance she had to do for Carmen Tibideaux (Whoopi Goldberg). However when she and Blaine (Darren Criss) teamed up for and amazing version of “Broadway Baby,” Madame wasn’t happy because a duet wasn’t the assignment. Rachel lucked out though when she was given a second chance to reschedule it.
However, that didn’t go so smoothly in Rachel’s mind since she didn’t have time to do it again until after opening night of Funny Girl. Madame told her that she was barely getting by at NYADA and her grades were slipping. She told her she needed NYADA to teach her it wasn’t all about the spotlight, but Rachel made her mind up, and decided to quit — she felt like NYADA was holding her back.
Madame Tibideaux wasn’t the only one who didn’t think Rachel made the right choice — Kurt wasn’t ok with it either. He made it perfectly clear that he would support her no matter what but that staying at NYADA would give her more opportunities in the future. Naturally, Rachel was well, Rachel and completely dissed him telling him he may need NYADA but she didn’t.
Kurt Realizes NYC Isn’t Like Lima
After literally saying “screw you” to Rachel, Kurt wandered into the streets of NYC where he saw a guy getting jumped in an ally. Since the group had recently paid tribute to another gay man who got beat up based on that alone, he couldn’t just walk away.
Instead, he jumped in the middle of the fight. The victim ran away — leaving Kurt to hit in the head with a brick before getting punched multiple times, landing him in the hospital.
Rachel, Blaine, Artie (Kevin McHale), Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Sam (Chord Overstreet) came rushing to his side. Even his father made an appearance and gave him probably the best father-son talk we’ve seen in quite some time, saying that next time only go after him if he was with him — and then they could do it together.
Rachel of course came crying in to apologize to Kurt, who gladly accepted. We knew they wouldn’t stay fighting, but he still told her he didn’t think she should drop out. However, her decision was already made.
Mercedes & Sam Part 2?
There had to be some romance in the episode, right?
Who didn’t see Samcedes coming? After Mercedes and Sam moved in together, we knew it was just a matter of (small) time before the two would end up sneaking into each other’s bedrooms after hours — or as the case may be, making out in front of Facts of Life reruns. So when it happened, the only thing that surprised us was her reaction.
Even though he made he feel like a natural woman and was clearly the best thing for her, she had a hard time shaking her friends’ reactions. Her backup dancers from LA weren’t impressed with his skin color, and told her that dating a “white dude” would ruin her career. She even believed it for a minute and told him he should move out.
Luckily, this didn’t last and she decided to perform an original song (by Amber Riley herself) called “Color Blind,” a great way to show that she didn’t care about any appearances. They even announced to the group they were a couple! Aww!
What did you think of this week’s episode, HollywoodLifers? Do you think Rachel made the right decision? Do you think she’ll try to go back to school? Let us know!
