‘The Fosters’ — Fighting for Sole Custody
The season finale of The Fosters started with plenty of drama. Stef (Teri Polo) found out that her son Brandon (David Lambert) bribed Ana (Alexandra Barretto) so that his dad Mike (Danny Nucci) wouldn’t go to jail. The bad news for Brandon is that Ana showed up and demanded $10,000 and said that if she didn’t get it, she’d go to the D.A. Stef decided to solve the problem on her own and basically told Brandon to stay out of it and keep his mouth shut (“this could end up very badly if it gets out”). Stef then goes to see Ana and tells her she’ll get her the $10,000 and says, “I never want to see you again.”
Stef also tells Brandon that he’ll be moving back home with her, which doesn’t sit well with Mike. But that wasn’t Brandon’s only problem in the episode. After Callie (Maia Mitchell) dumped him and his father came down on him hard for making fake I.D’s, Brandon got drunk and slept with (wait for it…) his dad’s girlfriend! Cut to the morning after when Brandon’s dad leaves him an awkward voicemail: “Brandon, it’s me dad. I love you. And I feel like I’m failing you as a dad. You’re a good son and I’m sorry.” AWKWARD!
More Trouble Arises In The Season Finale
Jesus (Jake T. Austin) got back on his meds, after he started acting out and having trouble with his girlfriend; Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) encouraged her boyfriend Zac to get help taking care of his mom, who has early onset Alzheimers and doesn’t know who he is at times (which meant he had to move to Arizona); and Callie can’t get adopted because there’s a problem with her birth certificate.
Also, Jude (Hayden Byerly) thinks he might be into his friend Connor, and tells his mom Lena (Sherri Saum) that he might be gay. “If you are or you’re not, it really doesn’t matter to us either way,” she told him. “We love you no matter what.” Cute!
Later, Stef goes to meet Ana wearing a wire to catch her trying to bribe a police officer, but Ana doesn’t show up. It’s later revealed that Ana got into a screaming match with some guy and the episode cuts to Mike, whose hand is full of blood and who has clearly been drinking — can we get a collective uh-oh?!
There’s A Baby On Board!
And if that cliffhanger wasn’t enough to hold you over until the summer premiere on June 16th, there was another major storyline that happened in the episode: Lena is pregnant! And while at first Stef wasn’t on board with it (“I don’t want you to have a baby, Lena”), she later came around to the idea: “I feel nothing but love right now. Love for you and for this beautiful baby we’re going to have.”
But wait! There was even more drama! At the very end of the episode, Brandon got ambushed by a bunch of his peers and got the crap kicked out of him!
