L’Wren Scott‘s suicide shocked the fashion world, but she exhibited signs of depression before she was found hanged to death in her NYC apartment on March 17.
L’Wren, 49, had shown signs of self-harm in recent weeks, a source close to 70-year-old boyfriend Mick Jagger‘s band The Rolling Stones tells the Daily Mail.
“L’Wren was really quite troubled and there were some issues over Mick and her standing in the family,” the source revealed. “It seems she suffered from depression.”
L’Wren was also upset that she had been Mick’s girlfriend for 12 years, but there was no wedding ring in sight. Given his rock and roll lifestyle, she feared Mick would never be able to settle down into a life of matrimony or monogamy.
Tellingly, L’Wren was usually a staple at Rolling Stones shows, but she declined to join the band during their most recent trek to Perth, Australia. She committed suicide while they were abroad on the trip.
“She just wasn’t well enough to go on tour with them,” the Stones source revealed.
L’Wren was also concerned about the debts of her company, LS Fashion LTD. According to documents filed in the UK in October 2013, the organization was running $5,899,548 in debt.
Our thoughts are with L’Wren’s family during this sad time.
