Kevin Trudeau In Prison — TV Pitchman Sentenced To 10 Years In Jail
Kevin pleaded for a light sentence in court on Monday, March 17, but Judge Guzman was not moved to change his mind, insisting that Kevin’s crimes merit a real penalty.
“Since the age of 25, [Kevin] has attempted to cheat others for his own personal gain. He’s deceitful to the very core,” Guzman told the court, according to our sister site Variety. “This type of conduct simply cannot stand.”
Kevin is the author of the best-selling book The Weight Loss Cure “They” Don’t Want You To Know About, which claims to have an absolute cure for obesity. He has sold 37 million copies of his bogus diet plan, and his shady ways seem to finally be catching up with him.
Kevin Claims He’s Changed But Judge Shoots This Down
Kevin has been in police custody since November, 2013, when he was convicted of criminal contempt.
In his pleas to the court on March 17, Kevin tried to persuade the judge that he had learned his lesson. “I have been stripped of all ego, arrogance, defiance and pride and for this I am very thankful, as it has made me a better person,” he told the judge.
He also made an oath regarding any future TV pitching roles: “I promise no embellishment, no puffery.”
But his promise came a little to late for Judge Guzman. In earlier proceedings, Kevin refused to pay any money to buyers of his book to help reconcile their losses.
Karma and justice have definitely caught up with Kevin, who will now have 10 years to reflect on what he’s done.
What do you think of the sentence, HollywoodLifers? Is it too long or does Kevin deserve the time? Let us know!
