Courtney Stodden and soon-to-be-ex-husband Doug Hutchison may be divorcing but that doesn’t mean he won’t be a part of her life. Doug will still be Courtney’s best friend “for life,” as well as the co-manager of her career, according to a new statement from Courtney’s rep. Read on for all the details.
We’re so glad to hear that Doug and Courtney’s split is amicable. Courtney’s rep says in an official statement:
After two and a half years of marriage, Courtney and Doug have decided to become legally separated. Courtney was married at a young age. Now, at nineteen, she’s interested in exploring life as an unmarried single young adult – with the freedom to explore her independence. Doug supports Courtney 100 per cent. The two will share custody of their precious pup, Dourtney, remain living in the same house [for now] in separate bedrooms, and Doug will be co-managing Courtney’s career.
The statement includes a note from Courtney and Doug that says, “We love each other very much, want for each other’s happiness, and will continue being the best of friends for life.”
The UK’s Daily Mail cites Courtney’s appearance on Celebrity Big Brother UK as the cause of the split after she flirted wildly with fellow contestant Mario Falcone, 25, on the show and revealed that she was starting to feel more “independent” from Doug.
Courtney first made headlines when she married Doug in May 2011 — with her parents’ blessing — when she was just 16 years old. It looks like Courtney is all grown up and ready to move on now.
But even though the pair insists they are separating on good terms, Doug was reportedly “heartbroken and angry” and “devastated” when Courtney told him to pack his bags and move out of their Hollywood home, according to RadarOnline.
“Courtney has called it quits on her marriage,” a source close to the couple tells Radar Online. “She is done with him and he’s totally heartbroken.”
“Doug knew he was taking a risk with the marriage, but he genuinely fell in love with Courtney and didn’t realize how much his life would be changed after they got married,” the source adds.
Courtney and Doug appeared together on the reality show Couples Therapy in 2012, but since then Courtney, who recently got DD-cup breast implants, has been booking solo gigs, including one on Big Brother in the UK.
“She is branching out and doing her own thing and Doug is getting left behind,” the source continues. “Everything with Courtney and Doug is so contrived, but he wasn’t with her at her Halloween party and she’s always doing things by herself lately. He just isn’t part of the scene anymore now.”
