Lea Michele looked more stunning than ever at the 2013 Teen Choice Awards on August 11, where she made her first public appearance since the tragic death of her boyfriend and Glee costar Cory Monteith, with an incredible and emotional speech.
We know that Lea has begun filming season five of Glee, but she proved to the world that she was even stronger than anyone thought. She attended the show with her Glee costars at Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles.
After the cast took home the award for Choice TV Show: Comedy, they then presented Lea with Choice Actress. Looking absolutely STUNNING, Lea took the stage to thank everyone — donning her gorgeous “Cory” necklace.
“Thank you guys,” she began tearfully. “I just wanted to be here today to personally thank all of you and tell everyone out here how much all of your love and support as meant to me over these very difficult past weeks. Not that I had any doubt before, but we certainly do have the greatest fans in the world. I want to dedicate this award to Cory. For all of you out there who loved Cory as much as I did — I promise you we’ll get through this together. He was very special to me and also to the world, and we were very lucky to witness his incredible talent his handsome smile and his beautiful, beautiful heart. So whether you knew him personally or just as Finn Hudson, Cory reached out and became a part of all of our hearts — and that’s where he’ll stay forever. So thank you guys so much.”
We told you first that Lea would be there with her cast-mates.
“Right now Lea is planning to attend the Teen Choice Award with the entire [Glee] cast,” a source revealed exclusively to HollywoodLife.com. “Ryan Murphy has given her total control on all the decisions for Glee, even the promotional stuff. It was Lea’s choice that they skip the FOX summer party last week — it was just too soon for her — but she feels like she wants to do the Teen Choice Awards because it has a lot of personal meaning for her — but also for the fans.”
A source close to the Glee cast revealed exclusively to HollywoodLife.com, that a tribute was being planned by Lea, along with creator Ryan Murphy.
“It’s going to be really hard because she has so many memories there with Cory, but she thinks it’s the right event to do,” the source told us. “She’s also talking about doing a tribute to Cory because he really loved that award show and it would be a good way for the cast and the fans to honor him. Things go up and down for Lea every day and everyone is making sure that she knows she can do whatever feels right for her, but right now Lea’s plan is for her and the rest of the cast to attend.”
