The youngest fatal victim of the Boston Marathon bombings, Martin Richard, 8, may have come nearly face-to-face with his alleged killer, Dzhokar Tsarnaev right before an explosion near the finish line on April 15. A shocking and chilling new photo shows the young boy just feet away from the suspected terrorist, with a backpack left on the sidewalk.
The photo shows Dzhokar, identified by the FBI as suspect number two in the bombings, walking away from the crowd after possibly dropping the backpack on the sidewalk. The bombs used in the Boston Marathon terrorist attack were made out of pressure cookers left in backpacks, and the black backpack shown in photo appears to have been left on the ground on purpose — possibly containing one of the bombs.
The photo shows the scene in Boston right before the deadly explosion. Although it has circulated around media sites including Fox News, Reddit, Gawker and the Daily Mail, it has not been verified by police if it has been doctored or not.
The eerie new pic of the scene emerged after the FBI press conference on April 18, in which authorities released photos of the suspects in the attacks. The FBI showed photos of the suspects in still shots before and after the attacks, now identified as Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26 (also known as suspect number one) and Dzhokar Tsarnaev, 19 (identified as suspect number two in the white hat).
The photos released by the FBI were used to help identify the suspects. On April 19, Tamerlan was killed by police after an apparent car jacking and shootout, and Dzhokar is still on the run.
