After Cory Monteith checked himself into rehab for substance abuse on March 31, his Glee co-star and girlfriend, Lea Michele, has publicly stood by him and shown her “love and support.” More support than we can even imagine! A new report says that Lea gave Cory an “ultimatum,” as she told him that they didn’t have a “future” unless he controlled his substance abuse.
Lea, 26 and Cory, 30 have been dating for over a year, and she has been vocal about supporting him since he entered the treatment facility.
“Lea gave him an ultimatum,” a source tells OK! “She said she loved him and she couldn’t watch him slowly kill himself, so if he didn’t get help for his substance addiction then she didn’t think they had a future.”
Lea encouraged Cory to get help for his problem with drugs.
“She told him how much she loved him, how amazing he was and how he didn’t need to drink to feel good. She adamantly supports Cory.”
And Cory listened to her!
“Cory did it for her as much as he did it for himself. He sees a future with Lea, he cares about her, and he has seen what happens to people he loves when he spirals out of control. He has come too far to let that happen again.”
Wow! Lea is such a supportive girlfriend, and she obviously really loves Cory. They are such a great couple!
Cory’s rep released a statement confirming that he was committed to getting sober.
“Cory Monteith has voluntarily admitted himself into a treatment facility for substance addiction,” the rep said on March 31. “He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery.”
“I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this,” Lea told PEOPLE. “I am grateful and proud he made this decision.”
What do YOU think HollywoodLifers? Do YOU think Lea was right to give Cory the ultimatum?
