What everyone thought to be a major fashion malfunction turned out to be nothing more than a little lift of the layered tulle. As Jennifer approached the stage, she delicately ruched her dress, creating a split between the top and the skirt of the satin piece. This classic beauty revealed more leg than usual beneath the sheer material, drawing all of the attention to the presumed fashion flaw. It probably didn’t help that the cameras caught her staggering when she rose from her seat when the dress got caught on her chair. As we could have expected, Jennifer recovered from the stumble with grace and poise before confidently continuing to the stage. She even took a second to laugh at herself!
So, what’s the real story? A spokesperson for Christian Dior Couture confirms that it was definitely not a rip. “The dress is made with different levels of tulle and satin and that is what the viewers saw when Jennifer lifted her dress slightly. It was not ripped and there was no malfunction…it was the design of the gown,” explains the spokesperson. Had she not lifted the skirt to insure a graceful strut up to the stage, no one would have ever known about the tiered layers.
A lot goes into crafting a couture gown, so it comes as no surprise that layers of fabric made up the gorgeous gown.
