On the Nov. 29 episode of Glee, New Directions welcomed back old faces and competed in this year’s Sectionals! Unfortunately, the team may be disqualified after Marley (Melissa Benoist) collapsed on stage!
Finn (Cory Monteith) enlists help from his old buddies, Quinn (Dianna Agron), Puck (Mark Salling), Santana (Naya Rivera), Mike (Harry Shum, Jr.) and Mercedes (Amber Riley) to help mentor the new recruits of New Directions, training them to win at Sectionals.
While it’s nice to see the old gang back together, the reunion felt stale without Rachel (Lea Michele) and Kurt (Chris Colfer). Still, Santana provided some much needed comedy relief that’s been lacking this season. (Couldn’t they just have pretended high school went on for eight years instead of four?)
While training the newbies, Quinn takes a liking to Kitty (Becca Tobin), who informs her that Jake (Jacob Artist) may be taking advantage of Marley. Of course, we know it’s just a tactic to split Jake and Marley up. Quinn, being able to relate to getting seduced by a Puckerman, tries to warn Jake to stay away from Marley.
The best scene among the veterans had to be the no holds barred slap fight between Quinn and Santana. Santana suggests to Quinn that Kitty is sabotaging Marley by feeding her laxatives. Quinn accuses Santana of channeling her jealousy of the former Cheerios captain onto the youngsters. Then, insults regarding their pasts are thrown and bam — a slap fight ensues until Brittany (Heather Morris) breaks it up. Darn you, Brittany!
Rachel and Kurt decide to spend Thanksgiving in New York City, far, far away from their respective exes. However, while Isabelle (Sarah Jessica Parker), Rachel, Brody (Dean Geyer) and a whole slew of drag queens engage in whatever the hell a “kiki” is, Kurt makes an emotional phone call to Blaine (Darren Criss) on the fire escape.
During this intimate phone call, Kurt explains that he’s trying his best to forgive Blaine, but he’s not there yet. However, he warms Blaine’s little heart by inviting him to the city for Christmas for a “heart to heart” talk — and ice skating! (This would explains Chris’ Twitter pic!) Hooray! Do you think Kurt and Blaine will reunite before season’s end?
As Finn states, New Directions has never lost at Sectionals. But this year may be different, thanks to Marley’s abusive behavior with laxatives. While the team nails their rendition of PSY’s ‘Gangnam Style,’ Marley slams to the ground at the end of the song, causing panic and leaving the team’s fate in limbo!
The episode is “To be continued…”
