Khloe Kardashian was devastated by her inability to get pregnant on the September 9 episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Thankfully, her supportive sister Kim Kardashian took her to Dr. Mark Surrey, a fertility expert who said that a lack of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) explained her inability to conceive. Fortunately, there is hope for Khloe to have a child — even with this diagnosis!
HollywoodLife.com spoke EXCLUSIVELY with Dr. Brandon Bankowski, who said that Khloe, 28, CAN compensate for her low amount of FSH.
“There are pills and injections that can force one to ovulate and replace the body signals,” Dr. Bankowski said. “Just because you ovulate it doesn’t mean you will get pregnant.”
Fortunately, doctors understand the problem and can help patients compensate for this lack of FSH.
“What this probably means is that her brain is kind of asleep and not sending enough signals to grow the eggs,” he said. “The ovaries respond to signals from the brain and the brain is supposed to send FSH. If the hormones are too low, it means the eggs are getting the signals. Many times, those women take the injections of FSH and then the ovary responds. It’s a clinical condition. Essentially, for whatever reason we don’t understand, a part of the brain called the pituitary is not sending the right signals. Food, diet, stress can all have an effect. She is young and it’s a very treatable problem.”
Do YOU think Khloe will be able to have a baby on her own, HollywoodLifers?
