One of Amber’s four cell mates, Carol Thomas, 36, who was in jail for failing to appear in court regarding a harassment-and-custody issue shared details in the new issue of Life & Style, on newsstands now, about their time in the Madison County Sheriff’s Department & Detention Center in Anderson, Ind. Dec. 27.
“Amber was very friendly,” Carol tells Life & Style. “We basically had to look at each other, sleep or talk the whole time.”
She said Amber was simply too nervous to eat and out of three meals, she only managed to consume a bite of chicken noodles, a piece of toast, the crust of a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and celery with peanut butter!
Luckily for Amber, Carol and the other girls had the reality star’s back in the small cell they all shared. The duo curled up on the same mat to sleep and even shielded each other when using the cell’s exposed toilet!
“There’s a wall on either side of the toilet, but the front is open, so anybody can see you,” Carol says. “Amber used it a few times throughout the night, and I held up a blanket for her so no one would watch.”
Although it seems Amber’s celebrity status helped her survive her time in the slammer, she still has mixed feelings about her reputation.
“I might get attention, but it’s not the right attention,” she told TMZ in a video interview following her release from jail. “I turned 20 and I don’t want to be known as ‘Amber from Teen Mom.’”
